12.07.2017 | 12:19 President of Uzbekistan received deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan
On July 11, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit.  At the meeting, the head of our state expressed his deep respect and addressed words of welcome to the friendly Turkmen people and to the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.  The dynamically developing and strengthening bilateral relations in political, trade-economic, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian spheres were noted with great satisfaction.  It was emphasized that the first state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan in March of this year, working meetings in “Avaza” tourist zone and in the capital of Kazakhstan – Astana in May-June, as well as regular contacts between the leaders of the two countries brought cooperation of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to a qualitatively new level and ensuring practical implementation of provisions of the Treaty on strategic partnership. 
11.07.2017 | 12:17 Construction of the metro in Sergeli district is continuing at a dynamic pace
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with construction of the metro in Sergeli district.  Metro favorably differs from other types of public transport with its convenience, safety and speed. The first metro line, laid in Tashkent in 1977, had a length of 12,2 kilometers and consisted of 9 stations. Chilanzar, Uzbekistan and Yunusabad lines were laid during the development of Tashkent Metro. The total length of lines with 29 stations reached 39 kilometers.  As experts note, construction of the metro in Sergeli district is fraught with a number of difficulties. Therefore, the metro line will be laid above the ground, over the overpasses. 6 stations will be built along the Sergeli line, which will begin from “Olmazor” station of Chilanzar line.

 On February 15, 2017, in The Ministry for foreign economic relations, investments and trade was held a meeting with representatives of the delegation of the Korean Federation of textile industries (KOFOTI) and the Korean Institute of industrial technology (KITECH).  During the meeting, the foreign side was presented detailed information on the benefits and preferences created for foreign investors, particularly in the textile sector, and created free economic zones in the Republic.

  ADB approved a USD 198 million loan to upgrade 77 km of Karshi-Shakhrisabz-Kitab highway. Asian Development Bank has approved a USD 198 million loan on 6 December to help upgrade and widen 77 km of the existing Karshi-Shakhrisabz-Kitab highway in Kashkadarya province, southeast of Uzbekistan, the ADB press service announced.  “The road upgrade will solidify Uzbekistan’s position as a key transit country for trade in Central Asia and the rest of Europe and Asia,” principal transport specialist at ADB’s Central and West Asia Department Jiangbo Ning said. “The project will also improve road facilities and management through road safety measures, and capacity development for relevant authorities and stakeholders.”

On November 27, Inha University in Tashkent held the evaluation of the developments within MIT.UZ Open Data Challenge 2016. MIT.UZ Open Data Challenge is a competition where teams of programmers, designers and journalists compete in a rapid product development based on open government data. Within Open Data Challenge teams had to operate in a tightly limited time frame: within two days abstract ideas should have turned to prototypes or alpha version of new web and mobile services, infographics and articles.
